What is phenacetin?
Phenacetin (p-acetophenetidine), whose chemical name is p-ethoxy-n-acetanilide, 4-ethoxy-n-acetanilide and p-acetaminophenethyl ether, chemical formula is C 10 h 13 No 2, is white and glossy flake crystal or white crystalline powder at room temperature.Phenacetin physical property:melting point is 137-138 ℃, boiling point is 132 ℃ / 4 MmHg, insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, acetone, acetic acid, pyridine, chloroform and other organic solvent.There are two kind of appearance of phenacetin,one is crystal phenacetin and the other one is shiny phenacetin.

1. Morse was first synthesized Phenacetin in 1878.
